C,
I firmly support the President. When you look at his accomplishments I think there are many reasons to be proud of what he has accomplished. For example, consider the following:

Healthcare reform

Financial Services Reform

The Stimulus: The National Recovery Act

Getting us out of Iraq

The "removal" of Osama Bin Laden

Ending Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Expanding the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

I could go on....But I am proud of what he has accomplished and I will work hard for his re-election.

Mike,
You are correct. Prop 16 is terrible. I must have goofed on my AdSense settings with Google.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll fix this. You must be referring to billroth.net. I will check this out.

I notice that you have an ad on your home page in favor of Proposition 16. Does this reflect your views, and if not, how did the add get there? Prop 16 is a terrible measure by which PG&E is attempting to further strengthen their monopoly.

Bill......we voted absentee and missed seeing your name on the ballot. Is there any way we can help between now and Tuesday to generate some votes for you? We use Twitter and Facebook to communicate. Some how we missed your presence on the ballot.

Kim,
Thanks for your question. In my view, we have to do a better job of funding education at all levels. We need to have Constitutional Reform in California so we can undue the damage of Prop 13. By doing this, we'll be able to fund California Education at an appropriate level.
With regard to immigration, I fully support the efforts of Justice For Immigrants, which supports bringing families together, supports economic refugees, giving responsible people a path to citizenship, and fully funding humane enforcement.

I agree with the statement made by Bishop Michael Driscoll of Boise, Idaho, when he wrote in a letter to Governor Butch Otter:

Immigrants are not criminals, as the law defines them, even if they are here without papers. The majority of immigrants are hard-working human beings who share our same values and aspirations and who want to be part of the American experience. Unfortunately, their efforts to lead full and productive lives have been thwarted by an outdated and inherently flawed federal immigration system.

We need Comprehensive Immigration Reform, the kind offered by HR 4321. We need it now.

In the beginning of the Prop 8 campaign here, Bill Roth stood in front of the Democratic Central Committee and said loudly, "This is wrong and Democrats don't support values like this." I didn't even know him then.

I ran the 8 campaign at the DeFrank Center and Bill Roth was with me every step of the way, including buying me meals when I was hungry and broke.

Actions mean everything, words not so much if not followed by actions. He would be a welcome addition to the Central Committee.

Carl: Yikes.....you are right. I should have been more clear. Now to your question.

“Do you believe that there are lesbians and gays in Santa Clara County?” Of course I do. I also believe that many of them face daily discrimination, and we should, as citizens, not stand for it. To be more clear on my position on this: One’s sexual orientation should have no relevance with respect to the government. Equal protection means Equal Protection for All, in all matters, including civil marriage. I publicly opposed Prop 8, and continue to do so.
As a contributor to the Billy DeFrank center, I am committed to pervasive and complete equality under the law for all Santa Clara County residents. I support the center and their fine work. Discrimination on matters of sexual orientation can take a horrible emotional toll, and the DeFrank center provides a loving and supportive refuge from a society all too often hostile to too many of our friends, neighbors and family members.
